Airytec Switch Off does much more than its name says. It quietly sits in the system tray area, waiting for your commands and then diligently executes the task you’ve selected. It’s actually a complete solution for any kind of scheduled task you may need. Besides shutting down your computer, locking, restarting and much more, it can also close a dial-up connection or execute a predefined script. It comes with an example of such a script and you can write your own, which means you can program your computer to do almost any kind of task at a specific hour or after a certain amount of time.
The interface is simple and effective, everything being well organized in such a manner that selecting and programming a task takes you no more than a few clicks and a few seconds. The tasks can be set to run daily, weekly, after no computer activity, at log on, etc.
An interesting feature of this program that will be found extremely useful by many users is its web-based interface. That means that you can shutdown, restart or execute some kind of action on your computer even by phone. The web interface is very easy to configure, it just requires you to activate it, choose an active port, a password and you’re set.
After many negative experiences with some similar programs, I am really impressed with this one because it does its job well. It doesn’t fail to shutdown your computer because an application shows a dialog asking you if you want to save your work or not.
